Veronica
Poulart was born on November 7, 1977. She received her first
pair of skates when she was three.
At four she performed in an ice show celebration of the Olympic flame,
drawing a huge crowd. Two thousand fans asked for encore.
At the age of six, she won her first gold medal, at the national New
Novice Championship. At the age of eight she won the international Junior
Cup, wearing an outfit created by her aunt Florencia
Vargas
In 1990 Veronica moved with her parents to Vienna. She started to compete
for Austria in 1992.
Three days before she died, Veronica won a bronze medal in Israel and
just a day before her tragic death, she won her last gold medal at the
Yugoslavian Championship. On the way back home to Vienna, Veronica died
in car accident together with
her parents.
Veronica's family remains her biggest supporters and fans and they founded
the Veronica Skating Club on August 10th, 2001 to give a chance to many
young and talented skaters to follow in her footsteps.
